Kay completed training as a Questioned Document Examiner (QDE) though the National Questioned Document Association (NQDE) in Dallas. Kay apprenticed to Katherine M. Koppenhaver, CDE. of Joppa, Maryland. She is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy, San Antonio Division, San Antonio, Texas. Kay also completed the Questioned Document Section of the I.A.S. Forensic Science Program through the American Institute of Applied Science (AIAS). The AIAS is licensed by the North Carolina Community College System. Law enforcement agencies throughout the world accept or require the AIAS program for positions in identification bureaus and crime labs. As well as being a Board Certified Document Examiner through the National Association of Document Examiners, Kay is a Diplomate with the National Association of Document Examiners. She has qualified in County, State, and Federal courts and has been court appointed as an expert in County, State, and Federal Courts. Kay has met and passed a Daubert Challenge. Kay is a State Commissioned Crime Scene Investigator, Precinct 2, Bexar County, Texas. Kay is also licensed as a certified instructor for the Texas Peace Officers and the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies. Kay's lectures, seminars and classes in Forensic Document Examination have been approved as continuing education hours for both Peace Officers and Licensed Private Investigators in Texas. |
